The ETHLETIC sneakers are produced by same company which has been supplying FairDeal Trading with sports balls for years. Since FairTrade Labelling Organization (FLO) criteria (and monitoring) do not cover the sneaker product, FairDeal Trading has signed an agreement with our supplier which specifies that the same conditions apply: FairDeal Trading pays a 20% Fair Trade premium (as for balls, where FLO only requires 15%) for the ETHLETIC sneaker production.

Decisions on the use of the Fair Trade premium are handled by the Talon Fair Trade Welfare Society. The most important measure financed is the health care scheme for all those involved in ball manufacturing (AND their families) - an absolute first for this type of production process.

Furthermore there is a fund for micro credits, which opens up the opportunity for workers and their families to reduce their dependency on (seasonal) orders for footballs, and at the same time add to the growth of the village economy.
